More opportunities to hear Nancy Guthrie

You may remember Nancy Guthrie from the 2010 Retreat. The comments about her topic and ministry were all positive and I welcome a chance to point you to more opportunities to listen to her.

Listen to the May 25th Connected Kingdom podcast as they discuss Nancy’s teaching ministry to women and her study books. Plus the retreats she and her husband host for grieving parents. Here is a video where the Guthries talk with Joni about Holding Onto Hope.

Invitation to Presbyterial 2011

Family Care opportunities!

Greetings to Family Care Chairmans of First Presbyterial

I hope all of you are having a great Summer.  This year has passed so quickly and I know that many of you
have completed numerous projects under the Family Care Program.
These are some of the activities that may add to your list:
1. Supporting the exciting Summer Bible School
2. Promote the programs at Bonclarken
3. Keep your young people aware of opportunities at Erskine College
4. Get involved with your local Crisis Pregnancy Center
5. Help send a team to the Appalachian Mission Bible School

Hope your plans this summer include attending the Family Bible Conference at Bonclarken the week of July 25th.
There is always so much information for us at this conference.  I am sure you will be truly blessed with programs
they have planned for us.

Theme and Study Books for 2010-2011

The study books for 2010-2011:

  • Bible Study:
  • Hoping for Something Better: Refusing to Settle for Life as Usual, by Nancy Guthrie. We recommend that this would be the book for most groups to use.
  • Let’s Study Hebrews, by Hywel Jones. We recommend that this book be used as a reference and by those groups desiring to dig deeper.
  • Spiritual Life:
  • Disciplines of a Godly Woman, by Barbara Hughes and
  • Treasures of Faith, by Chuck and Sharon Betters

The ARP WM Theme verse: Hebrews 12:1b-2a, “…let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…”
